h’Art for Haiti

Its hard not to have been affected by the news of the Earthquakes in Haiti. In response to this, we’re organizing h’Art for Haiti, an art auction at Ecclesiax Free Methodist Church (2 Monk St.) to raise money to assist with the rebuilding of Haiti, with proceeds from the auction going to World Relief Canada (http://www.wrcanada.org/).

h’Art for Haiti is happening at Ecclesiax on Friday, February 26, 2010. We are hoping to have artwork that is a variety of sizes and media. Would you be willing to donate a piece for this event? We will welcome any donation of art, small or large; paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography or any other styles.

If you’re interested in contributing, please confirm to Kat Froese (art@Ecclesiax.com) by Sunday February 14th with the title of your piece, the medium, and the approximate size. If possible, please provide a photograph of your work. Pieces are to be submitted to Ecclesiax by Monday February 22nd.

We hope you will join us in helping with this important cause.

Haiti Challenge

At Ecclesiax we are always looking for ways to respond to the needs of the world around us. We are reminded by tragedies like the on in Haiti that we live in a culture of abundance in comparison to most of the world. I am sharing a personal challenge with the members of the Ecclesiax community to double our normal monthly giving and give the extra to Haitian relief efforts. Give through a charity of your choice or if you are looking for recommendations of good accountable organizations here are a few:

For immediate crisis relief work we are recommending World Relief Canada, the Canadian government will match all donations up to 50 million: www.wrcanada.org

For more long term and sustained relief work you can direct donations through two channels connected to our church. The Free Methodist Church has a Bishop’s Relief Fund that will use any donations to help long term rebuilding efforts. You can give to this fund either by giving to Ecclesiax and indicating that the moneys are for Haiti or directly through this link: Bishop’s Relief Fund - Haiti

Another option is through our church’s Child Sponsorship program by either sponsoring a child in Haiti or by making a special one time gift, the website is: www.childcareministries.net

Belonging

As we grow as a community, it is important that everyone has an opportunity to participate in the life of Ecclesiax in meaningful ways. In order to make this easier we are inviting everyone who is an active part of our tribe to take the ‘next step’ by considering joining our Ministry Community.

In preparation we are making available a booklet with information on being part of the Ministry Community at Ecclesiax as a partner with the Free Methodist Church in Canada. Please download the file and take a look at the areas that interest or concern you, and contact Cameron with your questions or set up a meeting to discuss them, he’s buying!
